“The(AI)merican dream”

La pregunta era sencilla:

• La bandera de Colombia, su escudo y el himno nacional. –

En este siglo XXI, damos por hechas y ciertas muchas circunstancias e imágenes que nos rodean, y creemos que el pasado ya pasó. Al indagar los algoritmos que conforman las AI genéricas que se encuentran en la web, creadas por terceros, vemos reflejadas sus nociones personales y culturales al momento de crear el código que alberga y educa los algoritmos de las AI. La perspectiva es evidente pero no un secreto.

Haciendo hincapié a la famosa frase “American dream” y “American first” cuyos orígenes datan ya mas allá de un siglo en USA. Son el ejemplo de la distorsión de la información, el lenguaje, e ideologías de una nación que ha transformado la óptica de todo y todos a través de los medios. Si bien su significado y uso ha cambiado cultural y políticamente en el tiempo, son las creencias de la variedad generacional atemporal del mundo las que nos llevan de nuevo a repetir la historia.

 N(AI)ción generada, es una video instalación que reflexiona y pone en escena el resultado de imágenes y sonidos generados por AI online, en especifico, el himno nacional de Colombia, la bandera y el escudo, donde la mayoría de sus orígenes de creación, sus programadores y plataformas se encuentran en USA. Aquí, el simulacro es la imagen, el malestar es ver el viaje en el tiempo, y el pánico el mayor simulador de la historia. Y es que la alegoría de una “victoria” ha sido siempre atravesada por los medios como armas políticas eléctricas y electrónicas. 

En esta escenificación, un Tv de tubo catódico transmite una mezcla del tono radial del himno nacional generado por AI, (Haciendo aquí un peño guiño al episodio de radio transmitida y narrada por Orson Wells, “La guerra de los Mundos” de Herbert George Wells, en 1938), según la percusión que se cree tiene, y la emisión del escudo de “Colombia” (que interpretó la AI) de fondo de pantalla, la finalización de la emisión de transmisión televisiva que solíamos tener antiguamente, donde cíclicamente se repetía el himno con el escudo o la bandera de Colombia. 

Por otro lado, las banderas se transmiten en vivo, tiempo real streaming por webcam, donde se enfrenta la bandera en chroma key con su transducción de datos. Una puesta en escena que nos recuerda al “primer alunizaje del Apolo 11”, siendo, la bandera de Colombia transmitida y transformada por la perspectiva de la AI, procesadas desde la idiosincrasia en su programación, el hipertexto político de las redes y plataformas digitales.

La urgencia de la imagen ha sido procesada para volver  a “La guerra de los Mundos Imaginados”, consumida y transmitida por la luz azul de los dispositivos electrónicos.

In this 21st century, we take many of the circumstances and images that surround us for granted and believe that the past is truly over. When investigating the algorithms that make up the generic, web-based AIs created by third parties, we see their personal and cultural notions reflected in the code that houses and educates the AI algorithms. The perspective is evident, though not a secret.

Highlighting the famous phrases "American Dream" and "America First," whose origins date back over a century in the USA, they exemplify the distortion of information, language, and ideologies by a nation that has transformed the perspective of everyone and everything through media. While their meaning and use have changed culturally and politically over time, it is the beliefs of the world's timeless generational variety that lead us back to repeating history.

Generated N(AI)tion is a video installation that reflects on and stages the results of images and sounds generated by online AI, specifically the Colombian national anthem, the flag, and the coat of arms, where the majority of their creation origins, programmers, and platforms are located in the USA. Here, the image is the simulacrum, the discomfort is seeing the journey through time, and panic is history's greatest simulator. The allegory of a "victory" has always been propagated by the media as political, electric, and electronic weapons.

In this staging, a CRT television transmits a mix of the national anthem's radio tone generated by AI (making a slight nod here to the radio episode broadcast and narrated by Orson Welles, The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells, in 1938), based on its presumed percussion, and displays the "Colombia" coat of arms (as interpreted by the AI) as a wallpaper. This mimics the sign-off broadcast we used to have on old television, where the anthem was cyclically repeated with the Colombian coat of arms or flag.

On the other hand, the flags are transmitted live, real-time streaming via webcam, where the flag in chroma key is juxtaposed with its data transduction. This staging is reminiscent of the "first Apollo 11 moon landing," with the Colombian flag being transmitted and transformed by the AI's perspective, processed from the idiosyncrasy in its programming, and the political hypertext of digital networks and platforms.

The urgency of the image has been processed to return to the "War of the Imagined Worlds," consumed and transmitted by the blue light of electronic devices.
